Proofs of Concept (POC)
Overview of Fiber Connect 2023 PoC – What Fiber Disrupts Next
PoCs (Proofs of Concept) are collaborative projects among Fiber Broadband Association (FBA) member companies. FBA member companies can independently, or with partners, showcase how they are creating innovative applications, services and technologies. PoC projects can involve up to three companies (one must be a member of FBA) and should be where fiber broadband can go next.
Focused on Fiber Broadband’s ability to support disruption, change market dynamics and push the boundaries of what is possible today, the PoCs should focus on how fiber broadband enables markets, communities and/or verticals to create innovation and disruption.
The purpose of the PoC is to demonstrate the benefits fiber brings to communities as they look to leverage the following applications and services once the digital divide is closed. Please focus your PoC on demonstrating the value fiber brings to the following applications:
- Healthcare/Telemedicine
- Cybersecurity
- Sustainability
- Capacity and/or Latency Innovation
- Education
- Government and/or Community Services
- Research and Development
- Residential and/or Business Services
- Middle Mile and/or 5G
- Smart Grid/Smart City/Smart Utility
If you have another idea for a PoC that is not covered in the list above, please contact us to discuss prior to submitting the application.
PoC submissions will be reviewed by the FBA’s Technical and Conference Committees prior to approval for inclusion in the Fiber Connect 2023 PoC Showcase. FBA reserves the right to ask clarifying questions or ask for adjustments to a PoC submission as needed prior to acceptance.
Costs:
There is a $12,500.00 fee per PoC for participation. These fees will cover the
PoC demo pods (includes 6'w x 8' structure, up to (2) monitors, shelf, storage cabinet, and optional mini-rack with power), floor space, power, onsite interview packaged into a 3-5 minute demo video that will be shared with presenting organization, inclusion in event schedule (both website, program book, and mobile app), and signage during the event. Connectivity can be made available for an additional fee.
Selected projects will be showcased at the 2023 Fiber Connect event in a dedicated area of the Expo Hall. Fiber Connect 2023 will take place at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee, FL from 8/21-8/22/23.
If the submitted PoC is not showcased, there will be no fee. The PoCs can be as short or as long as required by the participant FBA members. Participating companies are required to staff the PoCs during all Expo Hall Hours.
PoCs will be evaluated during Fiber Connect 2023 by leading industry analysts. Awards will be presented in the following categories: Most Innovative PoC, Best Community Impact and Game Changer.
Starting a PoC Project
To start a PoC project, please do the following:
- First, identify the PoC you’d like to submit and then determine if you’d like to involve another company
- Use the submission template to capture in a first draft the key aspects of your PoC project
Documenting and Promoting Your PoC
Each PoC is allocated a unique identifier by staff when the PoC is approved. This identifier will be used in the pre-conference programming information and as an identifier for the physical PoC demonstration during Fiber Connect 2023.
Promoting the PoCs
PoCs will be listed on the Fiber Connect 2023 website and promoted through FBA’s email and social media programs. FBA will provide images suitable for promotion via social media for the participant companies.
